About

My name is Gavin, and I’m a family man. I’m happily married to Sarah, an amazing woman who runs her own dance school called The Mayo School of Ballet and Performing Arts. Our home is in the picturesque town of Westport, where we reside with our two wonderful children, Meghan, who is 8 years old, and Oliver, who is 5.

The motivation behind establishing the Voice Box was to reignite my passion for sound engineering. Having spent close to a decade as a studio recording engineer for a London-based music producer, I had the honour of collaborating with some of the industry’s most talented artists and musicians.

My interest in podcasts has grown over time, and one day Meghan expressed her desire to listen to one. I found it challenging to discover podcasts created by Irish children. Most podcasts tailored for kids were either from the United States or the United Kingdom.
I proposed to Meghan the idea of creating her own podcast. She teamed up with her school friend Penny, and together, we organised, recorded, and edited a podcast, marking the Voice Box’s inaugural episode. The girls found the process enjoyable and educational. It was this experience that led me to consider introducing podcast programs, such as The Voice Box Podcasts in Class, to both primary and secondary schools across Ireland.

The song party and silent discos offer both kids and adults a unique party experience to consider for various occasions. Whether it’s a birthday celebration, a special event like a holy communion or confirmation, a school or college graduation, a milestone birthday, or even a retirement party, these entertainment options add a special touch to any gathering.

FAQ's

Contact us if you have another question regarding our services.

How much does a song party cost?

Prices start at €225 for a party of up to 15. Please contact us directly to enquire about larger group parties.

Can I hire the silent disco kits separately?

The silent disco kit (20 headphones) can be added to a song party booking. This is a great way to entertain larger groups for an additional €100.  Silent discos are also great fun at Wedding functions, corporate business parties, school discos and societies.

How long do the party's last?
We will stay with you for 2 hours. More information regarding the studio setup will be given to you during the booking process.
How much do the Podcasts in Class cost?

Every school is unique, operating with different class sizes, schedules, and budgets. We offer a variety of podcast programs that can be customized to meet the specific needs of your school.

Are Fuel & Travel costs included?

We are based in Westport, Co. Mayo. Fuel and travel costs are included within a 25 km radius. For distances beyond this, additional charges will be calculated at the time of booking.

How do the Silent Discos work?

Our silent discos don’t require a DJ; You are the Dj! You can simply plug in your laptop or tablet to the radio transmitters and play your favourite tunes off Spotify, Itunes or similar. At the booking process you can give us a list of some of your favourite songs and we will add it to the age pre-programmed age appropriate playlist, if the songs aren’t already there!

Are Song Partied just for Birthdays?

The song parties are not limited to birthday parties. They are a fantastic activity for special occasions such as holy communions, confirmations, graduations, social and youth groups. Suitable for all ages, both young and old, singing ability (or lack thereof) doesn’t matter—it’s all about enjoying a fun time together!

What is a Chorus Mash Up?

A chorus mashup consists of combining only the choruses of the most popular songs. Many people find that they don’t know or remember the verses of songs, but eagerly anticipate reaching the chorus so they can sing along at the top of their lungs! We offer chorus mashups tailored for Swifties and Dua Lipa fans, featuring all the top artists in some capacity. Our mashups cater to all musical tastes, encompassing a wide range of genres and styles.

Do I need to hire a venue?
No. If you are having a party at home the Voice Box can work there too. All we need is a 10ft x 6ft space for the song party studio, and a large enough space to create a temporary dance floor for the silent disco. The silent disco kit also works outside so if the weather is good the garden is a great place to locate the silent disco.
How and when will I get the song party recording?

The entire song party is recorded and the audio link is uploaded immediately after the recording session has ended and emailed to you.
